Lindy Korn
was admitted into the practice of law in 1979, after receiving a B.A. from Boston University and her J.D. from Ohio Northern University School of Law. She was the first woman to run for Town Justice in the town of Amherst, in 1981. In 1990, she became a Commissioner for the Workers’ Compensation Board for the State of New York, having been appointed by Governor Cuomo, and confirmed by the Senate. Lindy is a holistic attorney focusing on employment law matters from the plaintiff’s perspective and concentrating on issues of sexual harassment and retaliation. In 1997 she created a company called Diversity Training-Workplace Solutions, Inc., and consulted with companies to prevent hostile environments in the workplace and did trainings through out the country. Conflict resolution skills are utilized throughout her representation.
She is the mother of two daughters, ages 20 and 23, and has dealt with issues of mental and physical disabilities both on a personal and professional level, and presently serves as a mediator for the Key Bridge Foundation performing mediations concerning issues of accessibility for the Justice Department. In her employment practices, she works closely with psychologists as well as other professionals who can assist in helping victims of sexual harassment become more balanced and better advocates for themselves.
Presently, she is a board member of Crisis Services and is a member of the University of Buffalo Arts Advisory Council. She also mentors law students through the University of Buffalo Law School Mentorship Program and participates in the “Lawyers for Learning” program tutoring an 8th grader at School 18, in Buffalo, New York.
Lindy is columnist for the Buffalo Law Journal, the Daily Record and the Buffalo Jewish Review writing on current trends regarding workplace issues. She has taught at the Cornell School of Labor Relations in the area of Workers’ Compensation and was an Adjunct Professor at the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, teaching Conflict Resolution in the fall of 2003, as well as having taught a bridge course at the University of Buffalo School of Law, in sexual harassment mediation.
Her passion is to create a more respectful workplace environment devoid of sexual harassment and retaliation.
