Lindy Korn

Co-Chair of the Diversity Committee of the Western New York Chapter of WBASNY and President and CEO of Diversity Training – Workplace Solutions Inc. in Williamsville, New York, Lindy was admitted into the practice of law in 1979, after receiving a B.A. from Boston University and her J.D. from Ohio Northern University School of Law. She was the first woman to run for Town Justice in the town of Amherst, in 1981. In 1990, she became a Commissioner for the Workers’ Compensation Board for the State of New York, having been appointed by Governor Cuomo, and confirmed by the Senate. Lindy is a holistic attorney focusing on employment law matters from the plaintiff’s perspective and concentrating on issues of sexual harassment and retaliation. In 1997 she created a company called Diversity Training-Workplace Solutions, Inc., and consulted with companies to prevent hostile environments in the workplace and did trainings through out the country. Conflict resolution skills are utilized throughout her representation.

She is the mother of two daughters, ages 27 and 30, and has dealt with issues of mental and physical disabilities both on a personal and professional level, and presently serves as a mediator for the Key Bridge Foundation performing mediations concerning issues of accessibility for the Justice Department. In her employment practices, she works closely with psychologists as well as other professionals who can assist in helping victims of sexual harassment become more balanced and better advocates for themselves.

Presently, she sits on the Boards of: The UB Center for the Arts Advisory Council, The Buffalo Prenatal/Perinatal Network, The Women Lawyers & Physicians Council, and is the President of the Mid Day Club of Buffalo for the year 2011. She participates in the UB Law School Mentoring Program and is also a Federal Court Certified Mediator and a part time Administrative Law Judge for the State Liquor Authority. Lindy is also a NELA NY and NELA National - Firm Member, Assisting Courageous Plaintiff's in Matters of Workplace Discrimination.

Lindy is columnist for the Buffalo Law Journal, the Daily Record and the Buffalo Jewish Review writing on current trends regarding workplace issues. Lindy also is an adjunct at the University of Buffalo, School of Law teaching sexual harassment mediation as a Bridge Course. She has taught at the Cornell School of Labor Relations in the area of Workers’ Compensation and was an Adjunct Professor at the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, teaching Conflict Resolution in the fall of 2003.

Her passion is to create a more respectful workplace environment devoid of sexual harassment and retaliation. Her avocations include playing cribbage, walking, and looking for reasons to laugh. She is also interested in connecting IT mentors with the Seniors in the WNY community.

Lindy has appeared as the “Workplace Doctor” on A.M. Buffalo talking about workplace romance issues, bullying and zero tolerance.

Charles L. Miller, II

Mr. Miller is currently an associate in the Law Office of Lindy Korn. He is admitted to New York State Bar, the Federal District Court for the Western District of New York, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Mr. Miller was born on March 1, 1952 at the United States Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. His father, Charles L. Miller, was from Lusk, Wyoming and made a career in the United States Navy. His mother: Patricia A. Miller (nee Fox) is a native of Buffalo New York.

Mr. Miller has one child, a daughter, Catherine, now living in Massachusetts.

As a result of his father’s career Mr. Miller has a varied residential background including having lived in Virginia, Hawaii, California, South Carolina and New York. Mr. Miller also spent two years in Istanbul, Turkey when his father was sent there as part of the US mission to the Turkish Navy. Mr. Miller describes this life experience as “priceless.”

Mr. Miller attended the State University of New York at Buffalo where he earned a Ph.D., in Anthropology. Mr. Miller specialized in archaeology and wrote his dissertation on the prehistoric inhabitants of the Genesee River Valley.

Mr. Miller has over twenty years experience in Historic Properties work. He was involved in projects large and small and for a wide variety of private and public entities.

Mr. Miller attended the University at Buffalo Law School where he was co-founder and an Executive Editor of the Buffalo Intellectual Property Law Journal.

After being admitted to the Bar, Mr. Miller acquired experience in various areas of law including immigration, intellectual property, real estate, and criminal law when he worked for the Erie County assigned counsel program.

As a result of being assigned a pro bono case by the federal court Ms. Miller began working on employment discrimination cases and devotes the majority of his practice to issues in this area of law.
